A Madrasah in the Heart of a Home

Welcome to Hikmah Youth, a nurturing house-based Madrasah founded on sincerity, care, and community. What began as a small act of service has grown into a beloved center of Islamic learning — all within the warmth of a family home, now beautifully known as the House of Al-Arqam.

From Humble Beginnings to a Thriving Madrasah

Hikmah Youth was established by our beloved Ustadha Khadijah, who first opened her doors in the summer of 2016. With a heart for service and a love for the Qur'an, she began by teaching close family friends how to read the Book of Allah.

As word spread, children from the community began to join her growing circle. What started as a few lessons soon became a trusted space of learning and guidance for families near and far. Alhamdulillah, over 100 students have now passed through these doors — each one welcomed as part of the extended Hikmah Youth family.

A Sacred Space with a Timeless Legacy

Inspired by the legacy of the original House of Al-Arqam in early Islam — a place where the first Muslims gathered to learn and grow — our home-based madrasa seeks to revive that same spirit of intimate, purposeful learning.

We believe knowledge thrives in spaces rooted in love, sincerity, and tawakkul. Our students don’t just attend classes — they become part of a sacred tradition.

Meet the Teachers

  • Ustadha Khadijah Mwanga

    Ustadha Khadijah is the esteemed lead principal, bringing over a decade of teaching experience to her role. Her journey in Islamic education began with a profound passion for the Quran, inspiring her to pursue advanced studies in various Islamic sciences. 

    She has also completed the ‘Greensville trust’ Micro Madrasa program under Shaykh Ibrahim Osi Efa & Shaykh Haroon Hanif.

    Currently Ustadha Khadijah is embarking herself in the studies of the Arabic language to eventually integrate the language into the Madrasa studies.


  • Ustadha Madina Serwadda

    Ustadha Madina is the daughter of Ustadha Khadijah. She was born in London and later moved to Huddersfield. Her journey into Islamic studies began at Hanfia Masjid, where she first learned to read the Quran. In her early teens, she enrolled in the Aalimah course at Al-Markaz ul-Islami. Following that, at the age of 15, she joined the Micro Madrasa course with Greensville Trust. After completing the Micro Madrasa program, Ustadha Madina focused on her nursing studies, ultimately graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Adult Nursing. Eager to continue her education, she pursued further Islamic studies through an opportunity at Mustafa Mount, an alumni of the Micro Madrasa program, where she is currently studying on weekends.

  • Ustadha Samah Shahid

    In 2016, Ustadha Khadijah welcomed her first student, Ustadha Samah, to the Madrasa. This marked the beginning of a journey that would transform the institution into the esteemed center of learning it is today. Ustadha Samah’s enrollment was a significant milestone, serving as a spark that ignited the Madrasa’s growth and development.

    Today, Ustadha Samah is not only a former student of the Madrasa but also a respected teacher within the same institution. Her journey from the first student to a key educator reflects her commitment to nurturing and developing its students into knowledgeable and capable leaders.

  • Ustadha Muzdalifa Hassan

    Ustadha Muzdalifa was among the first students to join the Madrasa, bringing a unique energy and dedication that greatly contributed to the institution’s development. Her enrollment marked an important milestone in the Madrasa’s evolution, helping to shape its academic direction and fostering a deep commitment to learning within the community.

    Today, Ustadha Muzdalifa is an esteemed alumna and a respected teacher at the Madrasa.

    Alongside teaching, she is currently studying on the Micro Madrasa program at Mustafa Mount to further her knowledge in Islamic sciences.

    At Hikmah Youth, our logo isn’t just a design — it tells our story.

    The quill symbolizes the pen mentioned in the Qur’an:

    “Read, and your Lord is the Most Generous —
    Who taught by the pen,
    Taught man what he did not know.”
    (Qur’an 96:3–5)

    It reflects our deep commitment to learning, literacy, and the sacred pursuit of knowledge.

    At the heart of our name is the word حكمة (Hikmah) — wisdom — the very essence of what we aim to cultivate in every student: not just information, but thoughtful, God-conscious understanding.
